Maharashtra Rain: Heavy monsoon rains are becoming a disaster in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, such a shocking video has surfaced from Raigarh district that everyone is stunned to see it. Here, thousands of red colored LPG gas cylinders were seen floating like cards amidst the strong waves of the swollen Patalganga river. Within no time this video has spread like wildfire on social media. After this unprecedented incident, there is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers living in the coastal areas of the river and the district administration has immediately come on alert mode.
This entire incident took place at the Patalganga LPG bottling plant of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) located in Chawane under Panvel taluka of Raigarh district. Due to heavy rains for the last few days, there was sudden heavy waterlogging in the plant premises and the water level increased rapidly. The flow of water was so fast that about 3,000 gas cylinders kept in a row in the plant were washed away and reached the nearby Patalganga river.
Video goes viral on social media; People expressed fear
According to initial information, among these thousands of cylinders flowing in the strong current of the river, some are completely filled with gas, while some are empty. A video of this incident is going viral on social media, which has been captured by local villagers in their mobile cameras.
In the video, only red colored cylinders are seen floating far and wide on the muddy water of the river. While sharing this video, internet users are raising serious questions on the security system and such huge negligence. People say that if these cylinders had collided with each other and exploded, it could have caused major devastation in the villages situated on the banks of the river.
Collector’s appeal: Touching cylinders can be fatal
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Raigarh District Magistrate (Collector) Kishan Jawale has immediately issued a ‘danger alert’ and guidelines for the citizens. The District Magistrate has made a strict appeal to the people living on the banks of the river that they should never make the mistake of going near any cylinder that has washed away in the water. Some people are trying to pick up the washed-up cylinders and take them to their homes.
The administration has warned that this can prove to be extremely dangerous. At present, it is not clear which cylinders are leaking or unsafe. In such a situation, touching, opening or using them can be fatal.
If anyone sees a cylinder floating on the river bank or nearby, keep a safe distance from it and immediately inform the local police or administrative authorities. At present, relief and rescue agencies are continuously monitoring the situation and a plan is being worked out to safely take out these cylinders from the river.
