Vaibhav Suryavanshi has joined Team India for the first time and fans were hoping that he would get a chance to debut in the first T20 match against Ireland but it did not happen. Vaibhav Suryavanshi had performed well in IPL 2026 and the tri-series played on the Sri Lanka tour but he did not get a chance.

After winning the toss, Shreyas Iyer explained why Suryavanshi did not get a chance to debut. Shreyas Iyer said, ‘Suryavanshi is an amazing player but he is sitting on the bench in this match. We have decided to retain only our experienced players in the team. When the time comes, Suryavanshi will get a chance.
Let us tell you that Team India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak had also indicated that Suryavanshi will not be included in the playing eleven. He had said that if Suryavanshi is given a chance then where will those players who are already scoring runs get a chance.
