The new appointment of Uttarakhand’s famous IAS officer Savin Bansal has come into discussion. This appointment is special because now he has been given a new appointment in the same office whose complaint he was in the news for.
Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Savin Bansal is currently a Secretary level officer and there was talk of sending him to Delhi on Central Deputation for a long time, but now his appointment letter has been issued. He has been posted as Joint Secretary in the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
what was the matter
His appointment is special because at one time a public complaint was made against him by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. The matter escalated so much that Vinod Kumar, Secretary of the Protocol Department of Uttarakhand, wrote a letter to District Magistrate Bansal seeking an answer.
This matter is from last year. In June 2025, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was on a tour of Uttarakhand and he also visited Dehradun. During his visit, IAS Savin Bansal used to be the District Magistrate of Dehradun. But strong displeasure was expressed by the Lok Sabha Secretariat for not following the necessary protocols during the Speaker’s visit.
Now Joint Secretary in the Secretariat
The Secretariat had written a letter to the Dhami government through the Union Personnel Ministry and complained against the then District Magistrate of Dehradun Savin Bansal. According to the Secretariat, the then DM did not answer the phone call of the Lok Sabha Speaker before his arrival in Dehradun nor did he receive him at the airport. Initially the DM did not even pick up the phone. After this, a notice was also issued by the state protocol department asking the DM to give clarification.
Senior IAS officer Bansal has now been sent to the Lok Sabha Secretariat as Joint Secretary. He has got deputation for 3 years. At present, he is working as Secretary in the Excise Department in Dehradun from May 2026.
Who is Savin Bansal?
Nale Savin Bansal, originally from Haryana, is an IAS officer of the year 2009 batch. He studied B.Tech from NIT Kurukshetra and then did post graduation in Risk Disaster from University of London. After this he passed the UPSC exam in the year 2008. He became IAS in his second attempt.
After IAS training, he was allotted Uttarakhand cadre. After which he has worked on different posts in Uttarakhand itself. Apart from Dehradun, he has also been DM in Almora and Nainital.
