
Giving information, the Uttar Pradesh government said that the state is strengthening trade, technology and investment relations with BRICS countries. The state’s total exports to BRICS member and partner countries have exceeded US $ 5.36 billion during the financial year 2025-26. Addressing the BRICS MSME Forum held in Agra, UP MSME Minister Bhupendra Singh Choudhary said the state is exporting machinery, garments, leather, carpets and precious stones to many countries. According to a statement from the state government, out of the total exports, goods worth about US$3.938 billion were exported to BRICS member countries, while goods worth US$1.429 billion were exported to associate countries. The three-day BRICS MSME Forum in Agra was attended by representatives of BRICS countries as well as MSME officials.
96 lakh MSME units in UP
Chaudhary said that the MSME sector of Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a major pillar of employment, innovation and economic development. About 96 lakh MSME units are working in the state and providing employment to about 1.65 crore people. He said the state’s ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) scheme has helped in connecting local talent and traditional crafts with global markets. The statement said that under the ODOP scheme, margin money assistance of about Rs 897 crore has been provided to more than 20,000 people, creating 3.16 lakh employment opportunities.
10 lakh new micro units in 10 years
The Minister also highlighted the ‘Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana’, under which more than 4.41 lakh traditional artisans have been provided modern toolkits and training. The government said that the state has also launched ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan’ to encourage self-employment among the youth. Under this scheme, interest-free loans are being provided without guarantee with the target of setting up 10 lakh new micro units in 10 years. It also said that MSME parks are being developed under the PLEDGE scheme in the state, and parks have already been sanctioned in 12 districts to provide a better industrial ecosystem.
