The upgraded version of Siri was glimpsed during WWDC 2026 with the launch of iOS 27, macOS 27, iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, watchOS 27 and VisionOS 27. During the event, Siri’s new name SIRI AI was also announced. The next generation version of this virtual assistant of Apple, built on Apple Intelligence, is ready to compete with the existing leading AI assistants like ChatGPT. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has hinted that you may have to buy a paid subscription to access all of Siri’s features.
Subscription for Siri AI?
In a Q&A session for the Weekly Newsletter, Mark Gurman hinted that there may be a fee to use advanced features of Siri AI. Gurman says that Apple is still in the early stages of convincing customers that the company’s AI technology is worth using. However, he believes that things will improve significantly in the next 12 months.
Running AI powered features such as Siri requires operating servers and high costs. I can see that the basic features of Siri will always be free without any limits. But for ChatGPT, you may have to pay a fee for more conversational, more knowledge and generative AI features. Apple has introduced new Siri and visual intelligence capabilities with iOS 27, macOS 27, iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27. The new operating system will be available to the general public later this year.
Siri AI Assistant can take data from your mail, messages, photos and other apps and work in supported apps. The dedicated Siri app lets users start new conversations or continue existing conversations from a single interface.
