The death toll of the US military in the US-Iran war has increased to 14. The latest death is that of a US Navy (Navy) pilot, who suffered serious injuries in a helicopter crash in the Arabian Sea in early July. With this, the number of American soldiers injured in the war has increased to 414. American Central Command (CENTCOM) has given this information.
According to American officials, most of the injured soldiers are suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), i.e. serious injury to the head and brain. Such injuries usually occur to soldiers present near missile attacks and big explosions. This is the first new death since the war began in March. Earlier, 13 American soldiers were killed in separate incidents.
Pentagon’s clarification on helicopter crash
Attacks between the US and Iran have resumed in recent days, but officials have not said whether any new soldiers have been injured in the latest attacks. The US Navy had earlier described this incident that took place on July 1 as an emergency landing. At that time it was said that the helicopter had not fallen due to any enemy attack. Three other sailors present in the helicopter were rescued safely. Now the Pentagon in its July report has recorded this incident as a death due to non-war reason.
13 deaths in Kuwait, Saudi and Iraq
Earlier, among the 13 deaths, 6 American soldiers were killed in an Iranian drone attack on a command center in Kuwait. Another soldier was injured in the attack on Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan Air Base and died a week later. Six other soldiers were killed in the crash of a US Army KC-135 refueling plane in Iraq.
Central Command said that so far 414 American soldiers have been injured. On July 13, another US Air Force soldier was also added to this list, but no information was given about his injury. It was also not made clear whether he was injured in the recent attacks or not. American officials say that almost all the injured soldiers have returned to duty after treatment. However, information about how many soldiers in critical condition were sent out of the war zone for treatment has not been given yet.
