US-Iran enmity increases Pakistan’s tension, biggest crisis comes to light

May 31, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Due to increasing tension between America and Iran, the fear of a new inflation crisis is increasing in Pakistan. The people of Islamabad are expressing deep concern about the rising fuel prices, rising cost of living and increasing financial burden on common citizens. Many people said that the impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is already visible on everyday life in Pakistan. Many people complained that inflation has now become unbearable, making it difficult for salaried employees and low-income families to meet their basic needs.

continuously increasing inflation

One person told that he had to keep his car parked for more than a month, now he cannot afford the fuel. He also said that now it has become difficult even to bear the expense of a motorcycle. He said that our salary is the same, but the prices are continuously increasing. Now even making a living is becoming almost impossible.
People attributed this sudden rise in inflation to the disruptions in global energy markets due to the US-Iran conflict and the tension over the Strait of Hormuz (which is an important route for the transportation of oil).

Petrol and diesel prices sky high

According to people, petrol prices in Pakistan had reportedly increased from about Rs 250 per liter to Rs 450 per liter, although later they softened a bit and remain slightly above Rs 400 per liter. A similar increase has been seen in the prices of diesel, which is putting more pressure on the prices of transport and essential commodities. People say that due to increase in fuel prices, public transport fares, prices of food items and other essential items also become expensive. Some people even claimed that inflation has increased by 300 percent, making it difficult for poor and middle class families to survive.

Demand to end hostilities immediately

Many have argued that military action and missile attacks undermine diplomatic efforts and further increase instability in the region. People also blamed geopolitical rivalries and allegations of external interference in the peace process for the continued deadlock. Demanding an immediate end to hostilities, the people of Islamabad appealed to all parties to give priority to dialogue. He stressed that peace is essential to stabilize fuel prices, control inflation and save millions of Pakistanis from further hardship.
