Officials from both sides are expected to use the visit to advance interim agreements and provide momentum for trade and investment deals.
The defense partnership between India and America has intensified in recent years. Today many important platforms and weapon systems of the Indian Army are based on American technology. These include Boeing P-8 Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft, MQ-9B Sky Guardian drone, M777 howitzer cannon and Boeing C-17 Globemaster III heavy transport aircraft, which are being used extensively by the Indian Air Force and Navy. They are used extensively in the Indian Air Force.
But the talks are now moving beyond buying and selling. Co-production in the defense sector and moving forward with mutual cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors and space technology are expected to be a major part of this agenda.
