With the aim of improving education, the Uttar Pradesh government is now going to start a state-wide catch-up education campaign to eliminate the learning gap of children. After strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy through the Nipun Bharat Mission, the government’s focus is now on reaching out to those students who, for some reason, have lagged behind the expected learning levels. For this purpose, a 15-day refresher teaching program will be conducted for all students in July 2026, while from August 2026 to January 2027, a special catch-up teaching session of 20 to 30 minutes will be organized daily in schools.
The objective of this action plan, prepared in the spirit of National Education Policy-2020 and NCFSE-2023, is to provide educational support to every student as per his learning needs. Yogi government believes that if the learning gap is not removed in time, the further educational progress of children may be affected. Therefore, a well-planned, systematic and result-oriented strategy is being implemented at the school level.
New phase of education reform
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Under the leadership of N.P., education reforms in Uttar Pradesh have now focused on enrollment and infrastructure as well as on the actual learning outcomes of children. Through the Nipun Bharat Mission, teacher training, digital monitoring and now the catch-up teaching campaign, the government is moving towards ensuring that no child is left behind in the race of learning. This initiative will prove to be an important step towards building a quality, inclusive and result-oriented education system.
Experience based and interesting learning
Catch-up teaching will not be limited to textbooks only but will be linked to local environment, daily life experiences and activity based learning. Teaching-learning materials (TLM), mathematics kits, library books, charts, posters and local resources will be used. Children’s interest in learning will be increased through game-based activities, stories, pictures, writing, group work and participatory learning.
Emphasis will be on error analysis and peer learning
Under the programme, the difficulties of the students will be identified and resolved. Through error analysis it will be understood where and why children are lagging behind. Self-confidence, cooperation and problem solving abilities will be developed in children by using methods like I do-we do-you do strategy, peer learning, pair learning and cooperative learning. It will also be ensured that no student feels weak or neglected.
Assessment, Monitoring and Parental Involvement
To make the program result oriented, baseline and endline assessment of students will be done and their progress will be regularly recorded. ARP, SRG, Diet Mentor and Block Education Officer will review the program from time to time. At the same time, school management committee and parents will also be associated with this campaign, so that children can get a conducive environment for learning both in school and at home.
