
In Uttar Pradesh, District Panchayat Presidents have been made administrators for 6 months. In this regard, Principal Secretary of Panchayati Raj Department, Anil Kumar has also issued an order. Actually, the tenure of these District Panchayat Presidents is ending on July 11, 2026, but from July 12 till the formation of new District Panchayats, the existing District Panchayat Presidents of the respective districts will work as administrators. These administrators will be allowed to do only normal and routine work, they will not be able to take any policy decisions.
However, if in any special situation it is necessary for the administrators to take a policy decision, then its proposal will be sent to the government through the District Magistrate. District Magistrates have been instructed to duly nominate the concerned District Panchayat Presidents as administrators.
The tenure of District Panchayat Presidents is ending on July 11.
According to reports, the Panchayati Raj Department had already sent a proposal to the government regarding the tenure of District Panchayat Presidents, which has now been approved by the government. In fact, the first meeting of all the District Panchayat Presidents elected in the three-tier Panchayat elections in the year 2011 was held on 12th July 2021 and on this basis, their tenure is ending on 11th July. Earlier, when the tenure of Gram Panchayat Pradhans ended on May 26, the state government had made the same Gram Pradhans as administrators and this was the first time, whereas earlier the responsibility of administrator was given to the officers. Now this system has been implemented on District Panchayat Presidents also.
What will happen to the block chiefs?
Now that the District Panchayat Presidents have been appointed as Administrators, the way has been cleared for the Block Chiefs to be appointed as well. Actually, the tenure of the block chiefs is ending on July 19 and they can also be made administrators. It is believed that an order in this regard can be issued on July 18.
