
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan called a high-level review meeting with former ISRO Chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan to assess the preparations for the NEET-UG re-exam. Dr K Radhakrishnan is also the chairman of the high powered steering committee formed to monitor the implementation of the recommendations at the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Secretary of Higher Education, Director General of NTA, senior officials of NTA and representatives of the Education Ministry participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, DG NTA informed the members about the additional measures taken to strengthen the security of the exam and conduct the exam smoothly. This included a thorough assessment of the existing surveillance systems and plans to further improve them.

Dharmendra Pradhan said that the security of the examination is the biggest priority. He also said that students should get good facilities and student-friendly environment at the examination centres. NEET-UG 2026 Re-exam will be held on 21 June 2026. The examination will be conducted at more than 5400 examination centers in 550 cities across the country.
Earlier, keeping in mind the extreme heat in many parts of the country, Dharmendra Pradhan had written a letter to all the Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and administrators of the states and union territories, seeking help in conducting the exam safely and easily.
Emphasis on security and facilities in re-exam
In his letter, the minister had said that many states are currently facing extreme heat, and proper arrangements should be made for the safety of the students appearing for the exam. He requested the state authorities to give clear instructions to the district authorities and all the schools, colleges and universities acting as exam centers so that the candidates do not face any problem.
The minister had asked the exam centers to make arrangements for clean drinking water, proper seating areas, working fans and coolers, clean washrooms, shady waiting areas, regular electricity supply and portable toilets wherever required. The letter also mentioned the need for proper crowd control and medical help for students and parents. He requested the states to ensure easy transport facilities on the day of the exam so that students can reach their centers without any difficulty.
