July 19, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Ukraine has carried out a massive drone attack inside Russia. In this attack, two big warehouses, an oil depot and many other locations of Russia’s largest online shopping company Wildberries were targeted. According to Russian officials, 9 people died in these attacks, while more than 80 were injured.

The first attack took place on the Wildberries warehouse located in Kotovsk, Tambov region. This place is about 360 km away from the border of Ukraine. Tambov Governor Yevgeny Pervishov said that 7 employees working in the night shift here died and 25 people were injured. The second attack took place in Elektrostal, which is about 50 km east of Moscow. Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov said that 61 people were injured here, out of which 40 people had to be hospitalized. One of the injured persons later died.

Ukraine is targeting oil depots

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones also attacked an oil depot in Noginsk. Due to this a fire broke out there. The nearby maternity hospital and a residential building were evacuated for safety. Drone debris also fell on a kindergarten, causing a fire. However, the fire was later controlled. One person was killed and another injured in another Ukrainian drone attack in the Belgorod region on Saturday afternoon.

Ukraine explained the reason for the attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the logistics centers attacked in Moscow and the Tambov region were used by Russia to supply banned foreign parts to make drones and navigation devices. He also said that Ukraine’s Special Army also attacked military targets in the Sea of Azov and in Russian-occupied areas.

The Ukrainian army claimed that the Noginsk oil depot supplied fuel to the Russian army. Apart from this, it claimed to target two tankers, two floating cranes and a tugboat in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. Ukraine also said that the Project 10410 Svetlyak-class patrol vessel was attacked in Kerch. Additionally, the railway bridge over the Bila River near Sabivka in the occupied Luhansk region was also targeted, which Russia used to transport military equipment and weapons.

Russia intercepted drones in 19 areas

Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its air defense systems shot down 379 Ukrainian drones overnight over 19 regions, Crimea, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. Despite this, many drones reached their targets and caused damage to warehouses, oil depots, transportation infrastructure and other targets.
