Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) purchased advanced satellite equipment from China through a UAE company. This claim has been made in a report of Financial Times. These equipment were to be used in Iran’s drone and missile program. This matter is very sensitive because the UAE company helped in delivering technical equipment to the IRGC unit. The same unit later carried out more than 2800 drone and missile attacks on UAE.
According to the report, in late 2025, the IRGC’s Aerospace Force purchased military grade satellite communication equipment from China. For this, a company named Teleson based in UAE was used. This company is located in Ras Al Khaimah Emirate. Documents and shipping records revealed that the company arranged to transport Chinese satellite antenna and related equipment weighing about 1.8 tonnes from Shanghai to Dubai and from there to Iran.
The ship had reached Iran from Shanghai via Dubai
The report said that this goods first reached Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port in a container ship named Zhong Gu Yin Chuan from Shanghai city of China. After this, the Iranian ship Rama III picked it up from there and took it to Bandar Abbas Port of Iran. The Financial Times investigation also revealed that the Rama III ship tried to hide its true location.
The ship sent false GPS signals so that other ships and surveillance systems thought it was somewhere else. But satellite images revealed that the ship was actually heading towards Iran. On November 29, a ship similar to this one was seen at Shahid Razai Port in Iran. This was the place where this goods was to be delivered.
Satellite devices were packed in 6 boxes
According to the report, this shipment was described as antenna and accessories in the custom records. Its total weight was about 1.8 tonnes and it was packed in six boxes. This goods was sent to Iranian company Ertebatat Faragoster Kish (EFK).
According to FT, UAE’s Telesan Company had purchased this Chinese equipment on behalf of EFK. EFK is an Iranian telecom company, which was working for Iran’s Same Industrial Group. America had imposed sanctions on the same group in 2023. America alleges that this company works for the missile, drone and electronic warfare programs of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force. However, there is no Western ban on EFK.
US had also banned the Chinese company
America also says that the same group purchased drone-related equipment through companies located in different countries. These included antennae, servomotors and other UAV equipment. Last month, a report published in the Financial Times said that the IRGC had acquired a satellite from the Chinese company The Earth Eye. It was used to keep an eye on American military bases and infrastructure in the Gulf region. After this, America also imposed restrictions on The Earth Eye. America said that if Chinese companies provide military assistance to Iran, action will continue against them.
