
The last death due to Covid-19 in Andhra Pradesh occurred four years ago. Now on Thursday, again two people died of Covid in Cuddapah district, along with four more people were found positive. After this, the local health department has increased surveillance in the area. Out of the four people who came positive here, three are in isolation at home. The fourth person has mild symptoms, so he has been admitted to a hospital in Cuddapah.
According to sources, he is being treated in the special ward of Covid-19. The reports of all four patients have come positive through RT-PCR test in the virology lab of Cuddapah. These cases are from different areas of Cuddapah. All four had taken two doses of the Covid vaccine, and one of them had also taken a booster dose.
What is the age of the patients who died?
The first of the two deaths occurred on June 28 at CMC Vellore. Of these, a 60 year old patient died during treatment. He was first admitted to SVIMS in Tirupati and later shifted to CMC Vellore. Later he was found Covid-19 positive in RT-PCR test. In the second case, a 43-year-old patient also died due to infection. He was undergoing treatment after being found positive for the virus.
Here a patient Babu told that later the Covid-19 infection was confirmed by CT scan of the chest. He also said that measures to prevent infection such as sanitization and tracing the primary and secondary contacts of the deceased were taken.
According to sources, “The patient who died in CMC Vellore had diabetes, kidney disease and other serious diseases. The health records of the other deceased were not available.” Looking at the symptoms of four patients, doctors suspect that the infection has spread due to the Omicron variant. Samples of the deceased patients have been sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune for genome sequencing (to identify variants). The last death due to Covid-19 in Andhra Pradesh occurred in 2022.
