16 important proposals were approved in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The cabinet approved many important decisions including two new expressways, Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme, improvement in higher education, construction of women’s hostel. Besides, a decision was also taken to organize the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature from 3rd to 6th August.
Two new expressways approved
The Cabinet approved the construction of Vindhya Expressway. It will be 333 kilometers long from Prayagraj to Sonbhadra and its estimated cost will be Rs 26 thousand crores. This expressway will give new impetus to the connectivity of Vindhya region. Apart from this, Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Greenfield Expressway was also approved. This 117 km long expressway will connect to Purvanchal Expressway and pass through Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Chandauli. The total cost of the project will be Rs 9,039 crore.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal for 1.18 km long diversion on Purvanchal Expressway. Due to increase in number of houses, the route has been changed. The change will not increase the overall cost of the project. Besides, the proposal regarding developer selection for the construction of Link Expressway and other projects connecting Agra-Lucknow Expressway with Purvanchal Expressway in EPC mode was also approved.
Top girl students will get Rani Laxmibai Scooty
Giving information about the decisions of the cabinet, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that three important proposals of the Higher Education Department have been approved. Under Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme, scooties will be provided to top-5 girl students of all the colleges of the state. A budget of Rs 400 crore has been set for this scheme and about 50 thousand girl students will benefit from it. The objective of the government is to encourage girl students for higher education and make them self-reliant.
Research chairs will be established in universities
For effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020 and to promote the Indian knowledge tradition, research chairs will be established in the universities of the state. Under this, assistance up to Rs 2 crore will be given to each university and assistance up to Rs 1 crore will be given to eligible colleges. This amount will be kept as fixed deposit and research activities will be conducted from its interest. For this, colleges which are 50 years old and have more than 5 thousand students capacity will be eligible. If necessary, support can also be taken from CSR and other sources.
New hostel to be built in Basant Mahila University
The Cabinet also approved the construction of a new women’s hostel at Basant Mahila University, Varanasi with a capacity of 112 girl students. Rs 2.48 crore will be spent on this. At present there is a hostel operating in the university with a capacity of 220 girl students.
Monsoon session of legislature will run from 3 to 6 August
The Cabinet decided to hold the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature from August 3 to August 6. During the four-day session, the state government will present various legislative works and important government proposals in the House. Apart from this, many other proposals related to women welfare, secretariat administration, home, state tax, transport, stamp and registration and cooperative departments also got the approval of the cabinet.
