June 20, 2026 by Uma Shankar

US President Donald Trump has unveiled the new Air Force One aircraft. This aircraft was earlier owned by the royal family of Qatar. This is a Boeing 747-8 jet, which has now been designed as the official aircraft of the US President. According to reports, this new aircraft is much bigger than the existing Air Force One.

Trump said that he will go to the NATO summit to be held in Turkey’s capital Ankara next month on this plane. He also said that this aircraft can also be used for a possible trip to China in the future. Trump said that his return from the G7 conference held in France was the last scheduled trip of the current Air Force One. He also said that the new Air Force One special will be seen flying during America’s Independence Day celebrations on July 4.

Will work until Boeing’s new aircraft arrives

According to news agency AP, this aircraft received from Qatar will temporarily play the role of the President’s aircraft. It is being called bridge aircraft. This means that until Boeing Company prepares a new aircraft for the US President, this aircraft will be used. Boeing’s new aircraft are expected to be delivered by 2028.

How is the new plane from inside?

The lower part of the new aircraft is dark blue and a red stripe has been made on it. There is also a large American flag and the presidential seal on the rear of the plane. Journalists who visited the plane said that it looks more like a luxurious house than an airplane. Inside it has light gray walls, shiny decor, silvery finishing and sturdy wooden tables. The President’s seal is also stamped on the seat belt.

Large lounges, comfortable sofas, separate areas for meetings and conferences have been created in the aircraft. The seats can be completely converted into a bed. The press area made for journalists is two to three times bigger than that of the old Air Force.

Controversy over Qatar’s gift

There has been a controversy in America regarding this expensive plane received from Qatar. Some people raised the question whether it is right to receive such an expensive gift from a foreign country or not. The US Air Force said that necessary safety related changes have been made in the aircraft. According to the information given earlier, these changes have cost $400 million (about Rs 3.8 lakh crore).
