US President Donald Trump has declared himself the biggest attraction in America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations. This decision was taken when many famous music artists who were supposed to participate in this program withdrew their names. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Trump spoke to his advisers after arriving at his private golf club in Sterling, Virginia on Saturday and decided that he himself would be the main attraction of the event.
Trump jokingly wrote on social media that he was thinking of bringing the world’s number-1 attraction to the event. Referring to himself, he said that more people come to listen to him than even Elvis Presley in his golden era and for this he does not need to play the guitar. He said that he will give a big speech at the ceremony. According to Trump, only great patriots will be invited to this program.
Great American State Fair
This event is being organized under the name Great American State Fair. It will begin in late June at the National Mall in Washington DC and will last for more than two weeks. The organizers had earlier told that a 110 feet high Ferris wheel (huge swing) would be installed in the fair. Apart from this, programs of many famous music artists were also to be held. These included big names like country singer Martina McBride and rock singer Bret Michaels.
However, just days after the announcement, Martina McBride, Bret Michaels and several other artists left the show. He said that he thought it was a cultural celebration of America’s 250th Independence Day, but later it started looking like a political event.
Trump had insulted the artists
Bret Michaels said on social media that the program which was described as a celebration of the country, now seems to be becoming a program to divide people. He also expressed concern about the safety of his team, family and fans. After this, Trump called the artists on Truth Social as third class artists. He said that his speech will work to take the country forward and inspire people.
According to the White House, the idea of the Great American State Fair was given by Trump during the election campaign. Its purpose is to showcase the culture, traditions and achievements of all 50 states and territories of America on one platform. Every state will have its own separate pavilion. This event is being organized by the pro-Trump organization Freedom 250.
Why is this program happening?
Although the organization says it is a non-political event, critics believe it is primarily targeted at MAGA supporters. Apart from this, the Trump administration is also preparing to hold the Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar race in Washington DC and the UFC match on the South Lawn of the White House. After the withdrawal of the artists, the discussion regarding the preparations for the program has also intensified in the White House and the possibility of change in the responsibilities of some officials is being expressed.
