There are assembly elections in Punjab next year i.e. in 2027, but before that, internal strife has started in the Congress. Just two days ago the Punjab Congress team was announced. It was decided that Amarinder Singh Raja Vading will remain the state president and Pratap Singh Bajwa will remain the leader of the legislative party. Charanjit Singh Channi was appointed the head of the election campaign committee. While MP Sukhjinder Randhawa was made the chairman of the core committee, former minister Vijay Inder Singhala was made the chairman of the election management and MP Amar Singh was made the chairman of the manifesto committee.
Now there is news of two people’s displeasure with this entire announcement. At number one is Charanjit Singh Channi, who was appointed the head of the election campaign committee. At second place is Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, who has been made the head of the core committee. Both these leaders were in the race for the post of President, but when the current State President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding was not removed, their anger started showing. Apart from these two, Manish Tiwari is also said to be angry, he has not been given any responsibility this time. After which he wrote his pain on social media.
Former CM Charanjit Singh Channi is most discussed
The most talked about among the angry leaders is former CM Charanjit Singh Channi. There is discussion because Channi has been silent since the announcement of the new team and called a meeting of his supporters on Friday. Channi had invited 3 MPs, 12 sitting MLAs, 40 former MLAs and the assembly in-charge for this meeting.

According to the information so far, 3 sitting MLAs, around 25 former MLAs, former cabinet ministers and former MPs attended this meeting. Apart from this, many people working in the organization also participated in it. Among the leaders who went to the meeting at Channi’s house were many leaders including former Deputy CM OP Soni, former Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Gurkirat Kotli and former MLA Gurpreet Kangar.
Overall, the number of supporters at Channi’s house was decent. This also increased the enthusiasm of Channi supporters and they made it clear that Charanjit Singh Channi should have been appointed to the post of president. He said that by not doing so, the party high command has hurt the sentiments of Congress workers.
BJP’s taunt on Congress’ discord
At the same time, BJP took a dig at this tussle within Congress. Ravneet Singh Bittu said that today on Amarinder Singh Raja wedding, he is remembering the Asrani scene from the movie Sholay. When the one who became the head (of Congress) said, ‘Follow me’, no one followed.
What did the Congress leaders supporting Channi say?
- Congress leader Harminder Singh Gill said that it is not about Pradhan, elections are going to be held in the coming days. The people of Punjab want Channi Saheb to be number one in that election. I do not want to comment on Raja Wedding, but want to see Channi Saheb at number one.
- Congress leader Nazar Singh Manshahiya said that there is no question of satisfaction or dissatisfaction. People have one voice and it is in favor of Charanjit Singh Channi. If we look at the options, we earlier thought that Charanjit Singh Channi should be made, so naturally that is the discussion.
- Congress leader Tript Rajinder Singh said that we have no fight with the high command, we also believe in them. But there are some things which we want to put before the high command again. We all have told Charanjit Singh Channi that you should take time and request the high command to reconsider a little and take a decision which will be in the benefit of all the Congressmen and next time Congress government should be formed in Punjab.
Chandigarh MP Manish Tiwari is also not happy

While he has openly expressed his displeasure on social media, many leaders are trying to exert pressure from behind the scenes. Randhawa met Home Minister Amit Shah
MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa says that after the arrival of any list, such a meeting causes loss, this situation should not have happened. Although Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa himself has met Home Minister Amit Shah, but he claims that he was meeting on the issue of law and order in Punjab. This has nothing to do with politics.
Congress made a big change just before the elections
Just before the Punjab elections in the year 2022, Congress had made a big change in the state. Charanjit Singh Channi was made the CM by removing Captain Amarinder Singh, the last-minute change did not benefit Congress and it lost power. This time Congress does not want to take this risk, hence this time Congress neither changed the current state president nor the leader of the legislative party in Punjab. Despite this, there is mutual discord among the leaders. They are fighting for the position and their share. The gist of the current situation is that before the elections the party needs coordination more than faces.
