History of Trinetra Ganesh Temple
There is an interesting history behind the construction of this temple in the 13th century. At that time, the ruler of Ranthambore, King Hamir Dev, was a great devotee of Lord Ganesha. At the same time, Sultan Alauddin Khilji of Delhi attacked the fort, due to which a long war broke out. As the war progressed, the stock of grains and essential materials in the fort started decreasing. When the worried king prayed to Lord Ganesha, Vigneshwar appeared in his dream and assured him, “Don’t worry, everything will be fine.”
According to local beliefs, the next morning a three-eyed idol of Ganesha miraculously appeared on the wall of the fort. Soon after, the situation of the war changed and the enemy forces retreated. Surprisingly, the empty grain stores of the fort were also filled again. History says that to express his gratitude towards this divine miracle, King Hamir Dev built a grand temple at the same place where Lord Ganesha had appeared.
