
Mandar Chandwadkar Tmkoc: A big revelation has been made about Mandar Chandwadkar, who played the role of Atmaram Tukaram Bhide, the only secretary of ‘Gokuldham Society’ in the famous TV serial ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. Mandar was not the makers’ first choice for this role. Before him, the makers were planning to finalize two very famous actors of Marathi industry, Pushkar Shrotri and Shailesh Datar for this role, but fate had something else in store.
The one who ruled the hearts of the audience as ‘Bhide Bhai’ in the show ‘Taarak Mehta…’ for the last 18 years. Mandar Chandwadkar Has exposed this secret in an interview given to Lokmat Filmi. Mandar told that when Asit Kumar Modi was casting this show, the first name that came to his mind for the role of Atmaram Tukaram Bhide was famous Marathi actor Pushkar Shrotri. However, Pushkar refused to be a part of this big project due to some reasons.
After Pushkar’s refusal, the makers contacted well-known TV actor Shailesh Datar. Shailesh Datar was already busy shooting some other serials at that time and he was short of dates. In this way, this opportunity was lost from the hands of these two big stars and then this role came to Mandar Chandwadkar.

Mandar Chandvadkar said- ‘It is good that he refused’
Recalling this incident during the interview, Mandar said in a funny manner, “Pushkar said no to the role and Shailesh Bhai was very busy with his other work at that time. But if I say honestly, it was very good that both of them did not do this role. Why did you not work in Marathi serials?
In this conversation, when Mandar Chandvadkar was asked that being a Marathi artist, did he never want to do lead roles in Marathi television or films? On this Mandar replied very boldly.
Mandar said, “I had a great desire to play a lead role in the Marathi industry, but the truth is that no one gave me a chance to play a lead role there. But we have a saying here, ‘Whatever you got is good, what you don’t get is even better’. I did not get work in Marathi serials, perhaps that is why fate had kept this iconic Marathi character of ‘Aatmaram Bhide’ for me.”
