Tirupati Laddu Sale: More than 4 lakh laddus are offered daily in this temple, sales broke records

June 4, 2026 by Uma Shankar

There is a temple of Lord Venkateswara Swamy on Tirumala hills in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, where thousands of devotees gather. Meanwhile, Tirumala Tirupati Laddus, which is considered the most special among the offerings of Kaliyuga Dham Venkateswara Swami, has created a new record. The sales of Shrivari Laddoo Prasad, considered sacred by millions of devotees, reached an all-time high in May this year. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has officially disclosed its numbers.

According to TTD, a total of 1,21,35,528 laddus were sold in May 2026. There has been a tremendous increase in sales compared to last year. While 1.01 crore laddus were sold in May 2024 and 1.10 crore laddus in May 2025, this year the number has increased to more than 1.21 crore.

More than 4 lakh laddus are being made daily

In view of the increasing crowd of devotees, TTD is making more than 4 lakh laddus every day. Modern technology is being used to increase quality and transparency. Two AI-based ‘color-sorting machines’ have been installed at Srivari Pottu to identify and remove impurities present in the raw material. Apart from this, 56 counters have been set up to speed up the process of distributing laddus to the devotees. Besides, ‘kiosks’ with digital payment facility have also been installed to buy additional laddus.

About 68 tonnes of high quality raw materials are used daily in making Shriwari Laddu, which includes sugar 32 tonnes, peanut oil and ghee 16 tonnes, cashew nuts 3.5 tonnes, raisins 2 tonnes, cardamom 400 kg and other ingredients. To make a normal size laddu, approximately 167-170 grams of raw ingredients are used, out of which 78 grams of sugar, 39 grams of gram flour and 36 grams of ghee are the main ingredients.

Laddus are made in two shifts

TTD strictly follows the traditional ‘Dittam’ standards adopted in 1950-51 in making Tirupati Laddu, which is licensed by FSSAI. Around 700 Sri Vaishnav Brahmins prepare these laddus in the sacred pottu (main kitchen) in two shifts. For this, there is a flour mill with a capacity of 15 tonnes per day and a storage facility of 2.10 lakh kilograms of ghee. TTD maintains a buffer stock of 8 to 10 lakh laddus without any hassle even during peak days like summer holidays and Brahmotsav. The sale of Shriwari Laddus, a confluence of quality, tradition and devotion, has created a new history.
