To resolve the infighting in the party, Indian Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel will hold an important meeting today (Saturday, July 11) with the faction of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s sharp attitude continues. He has clearly said that he will present his views during the meeting with party’s Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel and time will tell the decision. He said that how much oil is there and what is the flow of oil, time will tell in the meeting. He said that we will keep our point, time will decide the rest.

In fact, state in-charge Bhupesh Baghel is in Punjab for the last few days to end the internal strife going on in the party before the assembly elections. For the last five days, Baghel was meeting Congress leaders in Chandigarh while the Channi faction had kept distance from him.

Leaders arrived for the meeting
Supporters of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Charanjit Singh Channi are present at the Sector 4 residence of Punjab Congress MLA and former minister Rana Gurjit in Chandigarh. Many big leaders including former minister and MLA Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, former MLA and cabinet minister Gurkirat Kotli, former MLA Parminder Singh Pinky have arrived along with Channi for the meeting with Bhupesh Baghel.
Refusal to dispute
During this, the leaders said that there is no mutual dispute and there is a meeting with Bhupesh Baghel regarding the preparations for Punjab elections. But when the leaders were asked how the meeting regarding election preparations was being held without a president, they did not give any concrete answer. It is reported that around 70 to 80 leaders of the rebel faction will attend this meeting but it is being told that only five big leaders will hold talks with Bhupesh Baghel. However, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading will not be a part of this meeting.

Actually, Channi faction is demanding reconsideration of the decision to make Amarinder Singh Raja Wading the state president again. However, Baghel has also made it clear that the decision of the high command will not change at any cost. On July 1, the Congress high command had retained Raja Wadding as the Punjab Congress President. Channi was made the chairman of the election campaign committee. It is believed that Channi is angry at not being made the state president.
