Aamir Khan Time Machine Movie: After the success of ‘Mr. India’ in 1987, Shekhar Kapur tried to make a desi ‘Back to the Future’ film named ‘Time Machine’ with Aamir Khan. However, the work on the film was stopped midway. Recently, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of ‘Lagaan’, Aamir talked about this film. ‘Time Machine’ was written by Karan Razdan. He had earlier told that after the work on this film was stopped, he made several attempts to restart this project with makers like Karan Johar, Firoz Nadiadwala, Manmohan Shetty and Ramesh Taurani, but nothing worked out.
‘Time Machine’ was being considered as the Hindi version of Hollywood’s Back to the Future. in the movie aamir khan He was in the lead role and its shooting had also started, but the project was stopped midway. There were many reasons behind the closure of this project, due to which work could not be started again.
Karan Johar offered only 25 lakhs
‘Time Machine’ writer Karan Razdan had told in an old interview given to Bollywood Hungama that after the closure of the film, he made several attempts to restart the project. For this, talks were also held with producers like Karan Johar, Firoz Nadiadwala, Manmohan Shetty and Ramesh Taurani, but things could not work out. Karan Razdan told that at that time Jugal Hansraj was handling the story department in Dharma Productions. It was Shekhar Kapur who advised him to take the script to Dharma. Karan Razdan said, “I had told Jugal that I will narrate the script, but he said that Karan (Johar) prefers to read the script. Then I was told that I would be offered Rs 25 lakh. I was shocked. I said, ‘Have you come to buy gold or brass? Understand what I am giving you.'” He also said that he felt bad that Karan Johar did not even consider the need to meet him.

The whole story was narrated in front of Hrithik Roshan
Karan Razdan further told that he met Firoz Nadiadwala at Rakesh Roshan’s house, where Hrithik Roshan was also present while listening to the entire story. He said, “Firoz Nadiadwala wanted to make this film. I narrated the entire story at Guddu ji’s (Rakesh Roshan) house. Hrithik was also there. But the matter could not progress because it could not be decided who would direct the film. Shekhar Kapur had made it clear that I am associated as a writer, hence I should not direct, because I will be needed for writing during the film.”
The story reaches the era of ‘Mahabharata’
Karan Razdan also shared the most interesting part of the story of the film. He told, “The character of the film does not know how to operate the time machine. He flies with the machine and reaches the past. When his eyes open, he hears the sounds of war. When he looks down, a fierce war is going on. Then Lord Shri Krishna sees him. He asks him, ‘What is happening?’ Lord Shri Krishna replies, ‘The war of Mahabharata is going on.’ He is surprised to hear this and says, ‘Oh… this is Mahabharata!'”
‘Mahabharat’ is Aamir Khan’s dream project
In a recent interview, Aamir Khan had said that taking ‘Mahabharata’ on the big screen is his dream project. Aamir said, “This is my dream. Let’s see if one day it comes true or not. I really want to make it, but it is a huge responsibility. The people of India are emotionally attached to the Mahabharata, it is in our blood.”

‘Time Machine’ became the foundation of ‘Love Story 2050’
Karan Razdan claimed that the script of ‘Time Machine’ later became the foundation of Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra’s film ‘Love Story 2050’. He said, “I had written ‘Time Machine’ for Shekhar Kapur, which featured Aamir Khan. That became the base story of ‘Love Story 2050’. About 60 percent shooting of the film was completed, but then it had to be stopped. Many years later, Harry Baweja said that he wanted to launch his son Harman and make a film like ‘Time Machine’. The only difference was that this time the character would not go to the past, but to the future.”
Raveena Tandon was the lead actress
However, this film was closed due to financial problems. A long time ago, Gulshan Grover had also shared a picture of the set of the film and told that Raveena Tandon was going to be seen opposite Aamir Khan in this film. However, the film was never completed and became one of the most talked about incomplete films of Indian cinema.
