Those 5 records of IPL, which Vaibhav Suryavanshi will target in the next season

May 30, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The end of the IPL 2026 season was heartbreaking for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, where he not only missed a century in Qualifier-2 but the team also had to face defeat. Nevertheless, at the age of just 15, Vaibhav broke many records including the highest number of 72 sixes. He scored 776 runs and thus became the uncapped player with the highest run scorer. Now Vaibhav will return again in the next season and this time he would like to break some such records, which he missed by coming close to.

fastest century

grandeur Before the start of this season, he had said that he would like to break Chris Gayle’s record of fastest century in 30 balls. He was about to do the same in the eliminator match against Sunrisers Hyderabad but was out after scoring 97 runs in 29 balls. Now he will have the target of doing this in the next season.

fastest half century

Vaibhav scored a half-century in just 31 balls in Qualifier-2, which was his slowest fifty. From this it can be estimated how fast he was scoring runs. In this season, Vaibhav scored half-centuries in 15 or 16 balls 3-4 times. However, he could not break Yashasvi Jaiswal’s IPL record of fifty in 13 balls. Urvil Patel of Chennai Super Kings definitely equaled it.

most centuries

At the age of just 15 and in an IPL career of one and a half seasons, Vaibhav scored two centuries, that too on 35 and 36 balls. But this season he missed coming close to a century thrice. In 3 out of his last 4 innings in IPL 2026, he was out on the scores of 93, 97 and 96. If he had converted these into centuries, he would have had 4 centuries and in such a situation he would have equaled Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler, who have scored 4-4 centuries in a season. But in the next season Vaibhav would like to break this record.

most runs

This season, Vaibhav scored 776 runs in just 327 balls and till the final, he is number-1 in the Orange Cap race by scoring the most runs. Now in the next season, Vaibhav will try to improve this performance further and he will have the target of breaking that record, which seems impossible. Vaibhav would like to break Virat Kohli’s record of 973 runs in a season in the next IPL.

6 sixes in one over

In the history of IPL, no batsman has hit 6 consecutive sixes in an over. Vaibhav thrashed many bowlers this season and hit a lot of sixes on them. Vaibhav had hit 4 consecutive sixes on Praful Hinge. But even he could not do the miracle of 6 sixes. In such a situation, eyes will be on him in the next season to see whether he can become the first batsman to do so or not.
