After ending his coaching journey with the New Zealand national team, Luke Ronchi will take over as the head coach of Melbourne Renegades in Australia’s T20 league Big Bash League (BBL).
In 2017, immediately after saying goodbye to his international sports career, Luke Ronchi entered the field of coaching. He has been continuously playing the role of assistant and batting coach of the New Zealand cricket team since the 2019 ODI World Cup final. Apart from this, he has also been the stand-in head coach of the New Zealand team on the tours of India and Bangladesh in the year 2023.
New Zealand reached many big milestones during Luke Ronchi’s tenure.
Luke Ronchi’s tenure as batting coach with the New Zealand team has been very successful and historic. During his tenure, the Kiwi team made many big records. During this, the team won the first ICC World Test Championship (WTC) title by defeating India in the year 2021. Then in the year 2024, India got a historic 3-0 clean sweep in the test series at home. After this, in January, it won the ODI series against India by 2-1 and in June, it defeated England in the Test series at home by 2-1.

Luke Ronchi is also a big name in the T20 circuit. He is also the head coach of the famous franchise Islamabad United of Pakistan Super League (PSL). Ronnie has a unique record, he is the only player in cricket history who has represented both Australia and New Zealand at the international level.
