He was also not invited to Microsoft’s annual CEO Summit held in mid-May, where Gates has played an important role. A few weeks before the event, people familiar with the matter told the publication that Gates’ team was told it was best not to host a dinner for CEOs at his Washington home, as he typically does.
Bill Gates was scheduled to speak at the AI Summit in New Delhi in February, but government officials worried that media attention over Epstein’s revelations might overshadow the event’s focus on artificial intelligence. Gates withdrew from the summit at the last minute, later both sides described this decision as mutual consent.
What is the controversy regarding Bill Gates?
Criticism of Bill Gates began after details were found in Justice Department files that reportedly showed he had met with Epstein several times, despite concerns raised by his then-wife, Melinda French Gates. The documents also revealed that Epstein knew about some of Gates’ extramarital relationships and that two of Gates’ close advisers had sent hundreds of messages to Epstein through 2019.
Gates has repeatedly said that meeting Epstein was a mistake and has denied any involvement in any illegal activity. A spokesperson told the Journal that Gates supports the release of all Epstein files and is willing to cooperate with congressional investigators. However, the investigation regarding Gates is not over yet. As he prepares to appear before a congressional committee in June, the Epstein controversy is casting a shadow over the public image he has built over the years.
