Many opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, staged a protest outside the official residence of PM Narendra Modi yesterday in protest against the incident of lathi charge during the Parliament march of protesting students. Later he was taken into custody. Protesting against the dharna outside the PM residence, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the Leader of Opposition is using students as a political weapon to create disruption during the monsoon session.
The Union Education Minister also said that the government is committed to discussing in Parliament all the issues related to the NEET paper leak and solutions to all the legitimate concerns of the youth. Criticizing the protest outside the PM’s residence, Pradhan alleged that the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha was using the students as a political weapon to create disruption during the monsoon session of Parliament. Our students deserve better treatment than being used as pawns in a political campaign.
‘An attempt to create a political drama’
After Rahul Gandhi was detained, Education Minister Pradhan said in a post on social media platform

Criticizing the Congress, he said, “Despite the government saying it would agree to a detailed discussion, the Congress chose to create a political drama instead of a democratic debate. Their aim has never been to find a solution for the students, but to create a ruckus to garner political headlines.” He further said, “For Rahul, this matter is not related to students. This matter is about creating a situation of confrontation even after all the right avenues of discussion have been opened.”
Reform and accountability is our responsibility: Pradhan
Referring to the solution to the students’ concerns, Pradhan said, “Our government is fully committed to discussing NEET and addressing every legitimate concern of the youth in the House. Our students deserve better treatment rather than being used as mere pawns in political campaigns. They deserve certainty instead of chaos, solutions instead of slogans and responsibility instead of disruption.”
Pradhan also said, “We need to provide our students with answers, reforms and accountability, not just outrage. Our government is committed to doing exactly that.”
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and several other senior leaders suddenly sat on a dharna outside the Prime Minister’s official residence and demanded Pradhan’s resignation over the police action against the students protesting in the NEET paper leak case.
