The politics of Maharashtra has once again become heated. For the last few days, such reports are coming out that seven Lok Sabha MPs of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) may change sides. There was news that these MPs are in touch with the leaders of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Shinde is planning to conduct a surgical strike on the Uddhav group again. This is being called Operation Tiger.
These political speculations gained strength when Uddhav Thackeray called a meeting with MPs at his residence Matoshree last Sunday (June 14). But the very next day, on June 15, Sanjay Deshmukh, an MP of Uddhav, went to the house of Shinde and Shiv Sena’s Union Minister of State Pratap Rao Jadhav in Delhi and met him. This meeting increased the ongoing apprehensions.
Shinde group’s claim
Many leaders of Shinde faction are continuously saying that many MPs of Uddhav faction are in touch with them. It is being claimed that a big upheaval may be seen in the politics of Maharashtra in the next few days. Shinde Sena MLC Kripal Tumane claimed that the talks with seven Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs under Operation Tiger have reached the final stage. He said that just as the patient is examined before the operation, similarly this process is almost complete and only the date is left to be decided.
However, senior party leader Sanjay Raut along with Uddhav himself and his son Aditya are denying this. Leaders say that the party is completely united and no one will go anywhere.
Which MPs attended the meeting
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had called an important meeting of all Lok Sabha MPs on Matoshree on Sunday. Four MPs Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Sanjay Dina Patil and Rajabhau Waje participated in this meeting. Apart from this, some MPs had participated in the online meeting. These include Omraje Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchore, Nagesh Ashtikar and Sanjay Deshmukh. MPs Sanjay (Bandu) and Jadhav (Parbhani) were also part of the meeting with whom Uddhav Thackeray spoke on phone. Aditya Thackeray was also present in the meeting. .
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray – UBT) has 9 MPs in the Lok Sabha, while Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) has 7 MPs. There is one MP from UBT and two from Shinde faction in Rajya Sabha. That means, at present, including both houses of the Parliament, the Uddhav Thackeray faction has 10 MPs and the Eknath Shinde faction has 9 MPs.
beginning of rebellion
The story of Shiv Sena MPs between Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde actually started with the rebellion of 2022, when Shinde formed a separate faction by taking most of the MLAs with him. Today the situation is that the Uddhav faction has only 9 MPs left in the Lok Sabha, out of which 7 are being speculated to join Shinde’s camp. When Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was asked a question about Operation Tiger, he did not answer. Went away smiling.
What did Uddhav Thackeray say to the MPs in the meeting?
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey says that Operation Tiger is just a hoax issued by the Shinde group and there is no truth in it. However, he also said that during the meeting held in Matoshree, Uddhav Thackeray had said that those who want to go can go, no one can be stopped forcibly. Uddhav had also said that Eknath Shinde also left but today is your time, tomorrow our time will come.
