Amazing news: In a private hospital in Rampur Garden located in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, doctors have performed an extremely rare operation, which has surprised everyone. Doctors have successfully taken out a developed fetus of about 8 weeks from the stomach of a 3-month-old innocent son of a farmer couple living in Kalan area of Shahjahanpur district. In the language of medical science, this very rare congenital condition is called fetus in fetu. According to doctors, this is the second case of its kind in Bareilly and very few such cases have been reported across the world.
In fact, shortly after the birth of the child, he started having great difficulty in digesting milk. He used to vomit continuously. Gradually his stomach began to swell abnormally and when touched, a large lump began to be felt inside the stomach. The worried parents took the child to a private medical college for examination. When the doctors there conducted ultrasound and other necessary tests on the child, everyone was shocked to see the report. Just below the child’s liver, an unusual human structure was developing, in which fine hair, bones and organs like fingers were clearly visible.
Very complex surgery lasted 2 hours, 60 gram fetus was taken out
Since the case was very complicated, initially this sensitive operation was refused in the medical college. After this, the helpless family took the child to the famous pediatric surgeon of Rampur Garden, Dr. Rajeev Aggarwal. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Dr. Agarwal accepted the challenge and decided to operate: Dr. Rajiv Agarwal told that he had successfully performed a similar rare operation in Bareilly about 13 years ago. Based on the same old experience, the entire medical team worked very carefully.
The fetus was stuck to the liver and kidney.
After this very complex operation that lasted for about two hours, the fetus weighing about 60 grams was safely taken out from the child’s stomach. According to doctors, this fetus was enclosed inside a big cyst, which was filled with about 200 ml of liquid. The biggest challenge was that the blood supply to this internal fetus was from the child’s own liver and it was badly stuck to the liver, kidneys and intestines. A small mistake could cause huge damage to the child’s organs.
Child completely safe after successful operation
The expert team of Dr. Rajeev Aggarwal, Dr. Deepak Mishra and Dr. Vivek Saxena displayed extremely precise skills and completely separated the fetus from the vital organs of the child. After the successful operation, the innocent child is now completely out of danger and his condition remains normal. After the successful surgery, the child’s maternal grandfather Chhotalal and the entire family have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team of doctors, calling them the form of God.
What is this rare condition “fetus in fetu”?
According to medical experts, ‘fetus in fetu’ is an extremely rare congenital anomaly. In the very early stages of pregnancy, when twin fetuses are forming in the mother’s womb, then for some reason one fetus gets absorbed inside the body of the other fetus. After this, the normal development of the fetus hidden inside stops, but some parts of its body like hair, bones and fingers continue to grow inside.
This happens to one in 5 lakhs
Doctors say that this condition is seen in one child out of about 5 lakh live births. Usually this condition is found in the lower abdomen of baby girls, but in this case it was found on the right side just below the liver of a 3-month-old boy, which makes it even more rare and unique in medical history.
