
There was a stir in flight when a United Airlines flight going to Spain had to take a U-turn in the air. This case was surprising because all this happened because of a small Bluetooth speaker. Questions about security were raised due to the discovery of a suspicious Bluetooth device. Flight tracking data has revealed that the flight which had departed from Newark, New Jersey for Palma de Mallorca, but after being in the air for about four and a half hours, the flight had to return to the place from where the flight had taken off.
Not airlines, passengers told the reason
United Airlines reportedly confirmed the diversion via email to NPR and informed that the flight returned to Newark to address a potential security concern, The Times of India reported. The airline did not share further details about the reason, but passengers on the flight shared posts on social media that revealed the real reason. Many passengers shared photos and videos describing the deteriorating conditions in the cabin.
According to the passengers, the tension started when the flight attendant suddenly asked everyone to switch off their Bluetooth devices. In a post on Reddit, a user said that we are back and there is not much clarity on what is happening. The flight attendants either don’t know or don’t want to tell. An announcement in which they told us that we were going back revealed that someone had done something with Bluetooth which was threatening the safety of the flight.
Revealed in air traffic control audio from LiveATC.net. In the recording, a voice asking about the plane parked on the Newark tarmac was told that a security team had been deployed because someone had named their Bluetooth speaker a four-letter word, which sent everyone into a tizzy.
The Bluetooth speaker was named BOMB. A passenger posted a TikTok video and said that a Bluetooth speaker with the same name was active which was visible on the passengers’ screen. A passenger told that this device belonged to a child. A user wrote on Reddit that the boy had a speaker named Bomb, he admitted it. He said that he had kept this name forever and forgot about it. He is 16 years old. Note that the name of the speaker can be changed through the app of the company to which the speaker belongs, some companies provide such a facility.
