A mysterious explosion frightened people in Massachusetts and surrounding areas of America on Saturday afternoon. People heard sounds like two loud explosions from the sky, which is being called double boom. The explosion was so powerful that windows started shaking at many places and vibrations were felt in the buildings.
Later NASA said that it was not a bomb blast, satellite or space debris. It was a natural meteorite, which came towards the earth from space. According to NASA, this meteorite entered the Earth’s atmosphere at 2:06 pm local time. It is believed that it had entered the atmosphere over the South Shore area near Boston.

This incident was felt not only in Massachusetts, but also in Rhode Island, New Hampshire and many northeastern areas of America. Some people also saw a glowing ball of fire in the sky. This scene was seen by many people from Delaware to Montreal, Canada. After the incident, police and emergency services received a large number of phone calls. People wanted to know what caused such a loud sound.
The speed was 1.20 lakh km/hour
NASA said that this meteorite was moving at a speed of about 1.20 lakh km per hour. Reaching about 60 km above the ground, it broke into many pieces. The energy released by its rupture was equivalent to approximately 300 tons of TNT explosive. American Meteor Society expert Robert Lunsford said it was much larger than a typical fireball and was about a yard wide.

According to experts, most meteorites burn up as soon as they enter the atmosphere. But when a big meteorite arrives, it can produce a bright flash and a shock wave like an explosion.
