There is an obstacle in the way of oil again, Iran imposed a barrier! Will petrol and diesel become expensive?

July 12, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Tension has increased once again in the Middle East. Iran has claimed that it has closed the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important sea routes, until further notice. Iran says that a ship was going off course and had also switched off its tracking system. After this, action was taken against that ship and it was stopped.

According to the Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), some other ships were also trying to pass through the sea route without permission. He was warned to change his route, but allegedly did not follow the instructions. After this, Iran decided to close the Strait of Hormuz until further orders.

Iran has also given a strong warning to America. The Iranian Navy said that if any new military action or attack is carried out against Iran, it will be given a “very strong response”. Not only this, Iran also said that military bases of enemy countries present in the region can also be targeted.

What does America want from Iran?

On the other hand, America wants Iran to publicly assure that it will not attack ships passing through this sea route and will allow all ships to pass through without any restrictions and without any duty. US President Donald Trump said that despite recent tensions, America and Iran have agreed to continue talks. However, he also said that the ceasefire has now ended.

Why is Hormuz so important?

Hormuz is one of the busiest sea routes in the world. About 20% of the world’s population before the war started crude oil supply It used to be via this route. If this route remains closed for a long time, the worldwide oil supply may be affected. Experts believe that this may increase the prices of crude oil. The cost of oil can also affect the prices of petrol, diesel, gas, air travel, freight and many other everyday items. This may also create a danger of increasing inflation across the world.

Eyes set on Iran-America talks

At present it is not clear how long the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed. The world’s eyes are now on the ongoing talks between Iran, America and other countries. If the talks are successful, this important sea route can be reopened and the global energy market can get relief.
