Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said at the meeting of Quad foreign ministers on Tuesday that the Indo-Pacific region should remain the engine of global growth and stability, and the Quad should work towards ensuring maritime security and promoting economic options in the region. In his opening address at the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in Delhi, the External Affairs Minister called for “trusted and transparent” partnerships to bring peace and prosperity, especially in the Indo-Pacific region. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi participated in this meeting. Jaishankar presided over the meeting.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong called for making the Quad as strong and effective as possible. He said, “We are determined to maintain the momentum of the Quad. We want a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.”
