Actress Hema Malini talked about the grief of losing her husband and veteran actor Dharmendra in an interview. He told how his daughters Ahana and Isha are still struggling to recover from this shock. Actor Dharmendra died on 24 November 2025. Hema Malini told that she herself finds it difficult to talk about this.
The veteran actress has shared many more emotional memories about her life partner Dharmendra and has told about his contribution in her personal life as well as professional life. How he always stood for them and a strong pillar for the entire family.
I will cherish the memories
Talking about actor Dharmendra, Hema Malini said, “I feel uncomfortable talking about this, but I am very thankful to God that he has given me such a wonderful life partner, whose memories I will cherish all my life. No one can take his place. He was a strong pillar in everything in my life, in my career.”
She further said, “He gave me the freedom to do everything even after marriage. He never told me to sit at home. He knew I was an artist and a dancer, he saw my progress, so he always encouraged me to continue with films and dance. He always said, ‘You should keep doing it, don’t stop at anything’.”
Daughters are unable to recover from grief
Hema Malini told that Dharmendra loved his family very much and was very happy to see everyone together. She further said, “I am happy but also very sad, when I see my two daughters suffering a lot due to the absence of their father, this void can never be filled.” Hema Malini also told about the heart-touching surprises she received from her daughters, how daughter Ahana Deol wrote a love letter for her and Esha Deol sent a voice message in which she praised her parents and said many heart-touching things about their courage.
Did many films together
The onscreen pairing of actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini was also very much liked. Especially the chemistry of both of them was a big hit in Sholay. Apart from this, they were seen together in films like Dream Girl, The Burning Train, Pratigya, Patthar Aur Payal, Sita Aur Geeta, Dum Haseen Main Jawaan, Sharafat, Alibaba and Chalis Chor.
