A court in Vaishali, Bihar sentenced an 85-year-old man to three years in prison in a 35-year-old case. The name of the elderly person is Deepa Rai. He had committed a crime in his youth and was punished for it in his old age. The court gave this decision on Tuesday after 35 years. During this, four accused were sentenced to 10-10 years in jail and a fine of Rs 25-25 thousand, while Deepa Rai was sentenced to three years in jail. However, later, considering Deepa’s age, she also got interim bail. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Manoj Kumar Tiwari of Vaishali found Deep Rai guilty under the Arms Act. After this he was sentenced. This case is from 1992.

Deepa Rai can’t even walk properly

When elderly Deepa Rai was taken to the court for appearance, a crowd of people gathered in the court premises. The family members supported him and took him to the court because he could not even walk properly on his feet. The video of this incident went viral on social media. The video even reached the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. According to sources, the Supreme Court was on the verge of taking suo motu cognizance of this matter. When this news reached the CJI, he was holding a meeting with two senior judges for the appointment of High Court judges.

Even CJI could not stop himself

According to sources, during the meeting, the Chief Justice of India ordered his registry office that he wants to hear this case of Bihar. He sought an immediate report on this from Patna High Court. For this urgent hearing, the Chief Justice’s court room was reopened and the employees got busy in paperwork. When the Patna High Court report came, it was revealed that the lower court had already granted interim bail to the elderly man for some time, so that he could appeal in the High Court. When the CJI came to know that the elderly man was already out of jail, the courtroom was closed back and there was no need for hearing.

The incident is from the year 1992

Actually, this matter is from Vaishali district of Bihar. In the year 1992, Deepa Rai and others had opened fire on the Adalat Rai couple.
Total nine people including Deepa Rai were made accused in this case. Four of these accused died. Punishment was announced against the remaining five people. Deepa Rai was also included in these. The court announced punishment under the Arms Act.
