The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has called this viral claim completely fake. The government has made it clear that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has no such intention. The paper notes you have will remain completely safe and valid.

How did the market of rumors spread on social media?

For the last few days, a message is becoming increasingly viral on digital platforms. It was being claimed in this message that by the end of this month i.e. from June 30, 2026, a big economic change is going to happen in the country. People were being scared that the Reserve Bank would withdraw all the existing paper notes. Instead of this, completely plastic notes will be introduced in the market. This news had created great uneasiness among the common man and small and big businessmen. Many people were worried about their savings that their notes might become worthless overnight.

Real reality revealed in PIB fact check

Seeing this increasing panic among the countrymen, the government itself had to come forward. The Press Information Bureau exposed this matter late on Tuesday night. ‘PIB Fact Check’ issued an official statement on social media platform ‘X’ and rejected these claims outright. The agency said in clear words that this claim is 100 percent misleading. No such order or circular has been issued by the Central Bank.

The notes kept in your pocket will remain completely safe

The government has assured that the current currency structure of the country will remain as it is. If you have paper notes in your home, bank or pocket, they will remain legal tender in future also. There will be no problem in transactions with them. Officials have warned the public that any sensitive news related to financial matters should not be forwarded on messaging apps without thinking. Such misinformation creates an atmosphere of unnecessary fear in the market. This has a direct impact on the normal functioning of the economy.
