WhatsApp Web Group Calls: A big update is coming soon for WhatsApp web users. According to the report, now users will be able to make group voice and video calls with up to 32 people right from the browser. Till now this feature was available only on mobile app and desktop app. After the introduction of the new feature, users will not need to open a separate app for group calls. Currently this feature is being tested with beta users.
Now group calling will be done from browser only
According to the report of WABetaInfo, group calling feature is being added to WhatsApp Web. After this update, users will be able to open any group chat and start a voice or video call directly through the call button given above. Till now, only one-to-one calls were available on WhatsApp Web, while for group calls one had to use mobile or desktop app. The new feature will provide more convenience to the users. The special thing is that if the users wish, instead of calling the entire group, they will be able to include only selected members in the call.
Up to 32 people will be able to join, security will also remain intact
According to the report, a maximum of 32 members can participate in group voice and video calls on WhatsApp Web. This limit will be the same as for mobile and desktop versions. The company has also clarified that all calls made on the web will be protected by end-to-end encryption. This means that no one other than the people involved in the call will be able to hear or see the conversation. Even WhatsApp and its parent company Meta will not be able to access the content of these calls. With this, the privacy and security of the users will remain the same as before.
Support for call link, waiting room and screen sharing
Call link feature is also being added to WhatsApp Web. Through this, users will be able to create a unique link and share it with others, so that people will be able to easily join the call. These links will automatically close if they remain inactive for 30 days. Apart from this, waiting room feature will also be available, through which the host will be able to allow participants to join the call. Screen sharing facility will also be available during video calls, through which users will be able to share presentations, documents or anything present on their screen. Currently, this feature is available to some beta testers and the company has not revealed the launch timeline of its stable version, but it is expected to be extended to more users in the coming weeks.
