An important meeting of India Alliance was held in Delhi on Monday (June 9). In this meeting, leaders of opposition parties emphasized on the unity of the alliance. Many issues were discussed in the meeting. During this, Shiv Sena (UBT) raised the issue of the PM face of the alliance. Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said that the alliance should consider deciding the face for the post of Prime Minister before the Lok Sabha elections.
Sanjay Raut clarified that Uddhav Thackeray alone cannot decide the candidate for the post of Prime Minister. This decision will be taken with the collective meeting and consent of all the parties of the India alliance. He said, ‘Who will be the face of the Prime Minister, all the allies will decide together. If a common man like Narendra Modi can become the Prime Minister of the country, then other leaders in the alliance are also capable of this post.
‘If Modi can be PM then…’
When Raut was asked who is the face of the Prime Minister’s post from the India Alliance? And in whom do they see the potential to become PM? In response to this he said that Uddhav Thackeray cannot decide the face for the post of Prime Minister. He said that Uddhav Thackeray has said that the India alliance should sit together and decide this and it will be decided only by sitting together. He also said that if Modi can be PM, then a common man can also be PM.
‘India alliance completely united’
Along with this, Raut also said that the India alliance is completely united and will decide its future strategy under the leadership of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. He said that the sole objective of this alliance of about two dozen parties should be to oust the corrupt and those who loot the public from power. He said that this is the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ of the people of the country and this should be the one-point agenda of the alliance.
Shiv Sena MP gave argument
The Shiv Sena MP said that the opposition alliance will have to face the 2029 Lok Sabha elections by putting forward a candidate for the post of Prime Minister. He told that (Shiv Sena UBT chief) Uddhav Thackeray has also been taking the stand. He argued that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) not declaring the chief ministerial face in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections was a costly affair. He said that due to lack of a visible face, the electoral prospects of the alliance were harmed to some extent. He said that taking a lesson from this mistake, he is now demanding to decide the face at the national level in time.
