May 28, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The tussle in Karnataka Congress came to an end on Thursday. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigned from the post of CM. After resigning from the post of CM, while addressing the press conference he said that I have resigned from the post of CM. I went to Lok Bhavan and resigned from the post of CM. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot is not in Bengaluru, so I have submitted my resignation to his secretary. The Governor is returning tonight.

He said that I am confident that when the Governor arrives, he will accept my letter. As per the Constitution, resignations should be accepted. It is their right to decide the process. After the resignation of the Chief Minister, it is his responsibility to accept it and pave the way for the next Chief Minister.

He said that I had been saying this from the beginning and had said the same many times outside also. I had said that whenever the high command directs me, I will resign. I resigned as soon as I received instructions from the high command.

My full support to the new government

He said that I had told the high command that I would resign. A new government will be formed according to the constitution. The new government will have my full support. The new government has absolute majority.

Siddaramaiah said that I had joined Congress in 2006. From 2006 till now, everyone including workers, MLAs, MPs have loved me and provided opportunities. I am grateful to all of them. I was the Chief Minister for the first time from 2013 to 2018. After that, I am the Chief Minister from 2023 till now. Those who worked with me during my tenure as Chief Minister gave full support.

Siddaramaiah said that I come from a village. I never thought that I would become an MLA or Chief Minister. I came into politics by accident. No one in my family was into politics. Since coming into politics, I believe in the ideals and principles of Buddha, Basava, Ambedkar and Gandhiji. I have immense respect for the Constitution. I believed that everyone should be like a family.
