The enemy will run out of steam! Indian Navy gets 3 indigenous warships, PM Modi said – maritime border will be impenetrable

June 21, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Indian Navy is going to create history this week. To further strengthen the maritime power of the country, three modern warships INS Dunagiri, INS Agre and INS Samudhar are being commissioned into the Navy simultaneously in Kolkata. According to sources, along with senior ministers of the Central Government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in this very special program. This is only the second time in the history of the Indian Navy when three large and modern warships are being launched simultaneously into the service of the country. Earlier this was done in Mumbai in January last year.

These three warships, which are going to be commissioned in the Navy, have been built for different purposes. When these three work together, an impenetrable security shield will be created for the Indian Navy in the sea which will be impossible for the enemies to penetrate.

1.INS Dunagiri – ‘The Age of Enemy Ships’

It is a stealth guided missile frigate. Stealth means that its design is such that it does not easily come under the radar of the enemy.
• Deadly warship of the Navy: It is equipped with India’s most dangerous BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and advanced torpedoes. BrahMos missile attacks at three times the speed of sound, which is almost impossible for any air defense system to stop.
• Air Defense: It is equipped with ‘Surface-to-Air Missile’ (SAM) and Close-in Weapon System (CIWS) to destroy enemy fighter planes and missiles coming from the air.
• Special Technology: It runs on CODOG (Combined Diesel or Gas) system. That is, in normal times it runs on an economical diesel engine, but when needed, its gas turbines start working which suddenly gives it high speed.

2. INS Agre—’Silent Killer of Submarines’

It is an Anti-Submarine Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC). It has been specially designed to detect and kill enemy submarines that attack secretly in shallow waters i.e. coastal areas.
• Elimination of the enemy: Pakistan, with the help of China, is continuously strengthening its ‘Hangor-class’ submarines, which are trying to infiltrate the coastal areas of India. INS Agre is the time for them.
• Weapons: It is equipped with precision underwater torpedoes and anti-submarine rocket launchers made in India.
• Searching capability: It is equipped with a very modern sonar system. No matter how murky or turbulent the water under the sea is, it can detect even the slightest rustle of an enemy submarine.

3. INS Modifier – ‘Third Eye of the Ocean’

It is not a direct missile firing ship, but a hydrographic survey ship. But during war its role proves to be most fatal.
• very important weapon: Any warship or submarine must have accurate knowledge of the routes, mountains and depth of water to move fast inside the sea. The INS modifier does the same thing. It prepares the complete ‘Google Map’ of the bottom of the sea.
• Hi-Tech Gadgets: This ship is equipped with AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles). These are unmanned underwater robotic drones, which do high-resolution mapping of the seabed.
• Fatal Roll: Only with the help of accurate charts and maps prepared by it, other warships and submarines of the Indian Navy can carry out precise surgical strikes in enemy territory without straying and without leaking their location.

India’s power will increase

In one line, INS Dunagiri will rule the surface and sky of the sea, INS Agre will eliminate the enemies hidden under water, and INS Modhak will show both of them the safest and most accurate way to move forward.
With the coming together of these three warships, the capability of Indian Navy in surface warfare, anti-submarine operations and maritime survey will increase manifold. This step is being considered a big game-changer for the security of the Indian Ocean and Indian maritime borders.

Simultaneous commissioning of three indigenous warships, dedicated by Prime Minister Modi to the Indian Navy. Today, the Indian Navy is going to induct three indigenous and state-of-the-art warships Dunagiri, Sanshodhak and Agray into its fleet. This commissioning ceremony will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the Indian Navy, these three are multi-role and fully combat-ready platforms, which will give new strength to the country’s maritime security capabilities.
