The darkness in the police station is shocking… Allahabad High Court’s harsh comment on generator failure, sought answer from SP

July 9, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Allahabad High Court has made a strict comment on the generator malfunction in Deoria police station. The court said that it is a surprising matter that there is darkness in the police station. Allahabad High Court has sought reply from SP Deoria regarding power failure here. In the case related to Deoria, the High Court said that a sensitive place like a police station is kept in darkness without electricity. Is the generator given by the government also not working properly?

The court ordered the Superintendent of Police of Deoria to file his personal affidavit in this case. This matter is related to Bhaluani police station of Deoria. The court asked SP Deoria why the gen-set of the police station was not working. Why was no action taken to correct this so that electricity continues to be available even when there is no supply from the Power Corporation?

Next hearing will be on July 28

The court will now hold the next hearing in this case on July 28. Petitioner Nagendra Kumar Yadav alleges that he was kept in the lockup of the police station on April 3, 2026. In this case, the court is angry over not providing CCTV of the police station. The court said that such negligence cannot be tolerated in any way. It is necessary to have electricity in a place like a police station.

The argument was given that there was no electricity in the police station.

In the court, the SHO, while defending the petitioner in lockup, argued that there was no electricity in the police station at that time, hence he could not check the CCTV footage. Taking a strict stand in this matter, the court has ordered the Superintendent of Police of Deoria to file his personal affidavit. In this case, the court ordered the SHO of the police station to be personally present in the court on the next hearing. The double bench of Justice Ajit Kumar and Justice Indrajit Shukla gave the order.
