Whenever we go to a petrol pump to fill oil in our car, we often hear one thing from the employees, “Brother, first check zero.” To many people this seems to be just a formality, but in reality it is an important step. The reason for this is that even today in many parts of the country, cases of fraud with customers keep coming to light at some petrol pumps. From meter rigging to diverting petrol to filling less petrol, many such methods are adopted which benefit the employees but cause loss to the customer. A video related to this has surfaced among the people these days, which has surprised everyone.
In the video, a female employee is playing tricks with the customer. This entire incident was captured on camera, as soon as the video went viral, the matter came into discussion among the people. It is being told that the victims of such scams are mostly those people who are in a hurry or are busy on their mobile phones. At such times, their attention is not on the meter or the process of filling petrol, which some dishonest people take advantage of.
Scam done by confusing things
In the viral video, it is seen that the female employee is first seen resetting the meter of the petrol machine. After this she starts talking to the customer and asks whether the payment will be made in cash or online. While the customer is answering, his attention is diverted from the meter. The whole game starts from here.
In fact, instead of completely zeroing the meter, it leaves the already recorded reading of Rs 200 to remain there. After this, when the customer demands to fill petrol worth Rs 500, the machine stops when it reaches Rs 500, but in reality only Rs 300 worth of petrol has gone into the customer’s car. The remaining Rs 200 remains included in the earlier reading.
During this, the employee continuously keeps the customer engaged in conversation so that his attention does not go towards the machine. It is claimed in the video that she keeps the customer busy with general things like bike riders and travelling. If the customer is not alert, he does not even know about this fraud.
However, an interesting twist in this case came when the customer turned out to be a content creator. He had installed Insta 360 camera on his bike, which was recording the whole time. The entire incident was captured on camera and later the video was shared on social media. It was claimed that this incident took place at Krishna Petrol Pump located on Geedam Road, Chhattisgarh. After the video went viral, people reacted strongly to it and expressed concern about such activities taking place at petrol pumps.
