This year in 2026, the last episode of ‘Stranger Things’, one of the biggest series of Netflix, was aired. Everyone has liked this show and every fan was eagerly waiting for the last episode of this show. After this show, there was a lot of discussion among the fans that what will the Duffer Brothers do next? The Duffer Brothers told fans that they are making a show that will be exactly like Stranger Things, but the characters in this show will be bigger.
When Netflix’s series The Burroughs was announced, it was claimed by the makers that watching the show will remind one of Stranger Things. Thinking this, the Stranger Things fan in me also started watching the series. Right from the beginning, the show proves that the Duffer Brothers have their minds set on this. The story of the show is of a 60 year old man Sam. Sam has just lost his wife and his wife’s last wish was for Sam to go live at The Burroughs after she passed away. To fulfill his wife’s last wish, Sam’s daughter and son-in-law bring them to The Burrows.
What is ‘The Burroughs’?
It can be called a kind of old age home, which is exactly like a society. Sam is given a house where a lady previously lived, who dies under strange circumstances. The Burroughs has everything, but most of the people here are old age. On the very first day, Sam’s neighbor Jack comes to meet him. At first Sam finds Jack quite strange, but then after Jack’s death, Sam sets out on a quest. The quest to reach Jack’s murderer. Sam slowly makes the rest of the people there realize that Jack has been murdered and that it was done by some strange insect-like thing.

The story gets entangled in relationships
The story of this show sounds quite interesting. The beginning of the show is also good. The story takes its own shape. You are gradually told that when a person’s hands and legs get tired, how dangerous a single moment becomes for him. The true meaning of loyalty, infidelity and love, all these have been shown very well in this show. The makers of the show have no answer when it comes to building relationships. If this show was a social drama then I would say that the series has hit the nail on the head in this regard, but this show is a sci-fi horror genre show, so relationships alone are not going to work. The story of the show remains trapped in this web of relationships.
The screenplay of the show is raw
The show remains quite raw in the sci-fi genre department. The way the story of Stranger Things dealt with science used to shock you. You really had to sit down with a science book because it was constructed that way in the screenplay. Here the matter seems to be complicated. The story of the show is interesting, but its screenplay is so messed up and tired that you don’t even feel the horror, rather in the name of sci-fi we are just told how we can kill the enemy with cathode ray TV. The characters here do everything very easily. Villains don’t look like villains. When the Mind Flayer of Stranger Things or Vecna used to break people’s bones in Season 4, the soul would tremble, but in this show there is a worm sucking the fluid of your brain, yet you are not afraid of it.

To watch or not to watch?
Overall, the story was good, but the way the directors of each episode were different, the shortcomings in the show are also visible. The beginning of the series is good, but till the end it does not feel like you have missed anything in this show. This is a one time watch show. Stranger Things is optional for fans, if you want to watch it then watch it, if you don’t want to watch it then you can leave it because you may be very disappointed. If you want to see something good which can be finished easily then you can give it a try.
