Jansuraj Party founder Prashant Kishore has contested from Bankipur assembly seat, but this path is not easy for PK. It is very difficult to defeat a BJP candidate in a BJP stronghold. In such a situation, RJD has created more problems for Prashant Kishor by fielding its candidate from the Grand Alliance. However, Prashant Kishore is confident that the voters of the Grand Alliance will vote for Jansuraj only.
Bankipur Assembly seat is counted among the most hard-profile and ‘VIP’ urban seats of Bihar. The total number of voters in this assembly seat is 3,79,471, where Kayastha voters have the largest number. That is why it is traditionally considered a Kayastha dominated seat. The number of voters of this society is highest at around 70 percent. For this reason, since 1995, BJP has been fielding candidates from this community, first Naveen Kishore Sinha and later his son Nitin Nabin, and they have been winning.
Forward voters decide the direction of Bankipur politics
Apart from Kayasthas, there is also a large population of Bhumihar, Brahmin and Rajput voters here. Overall, forward voters decide the direction of politics here. However, there are also a significant number of Yadav, Vaishya and Kurmi voters. This is the reason why the Grand Alliance has fielded Rekha Gupta from the Vaishya community as its candidate.
BJP’s track record strong in Bankipur
Prashant Kishor’s path to victory in Bankipur is very difficult, but in some special circumstances he can also cause an upset. According to experts, due to cases like tender scam, Bharat Tiwari encounter in Bihar, there is anger among the public against Samrat Chaudhary’s government, which Prashant Kishore will try to capitalize on. Despite this, BJP’s track record is very strong in Bankipur. For example, in the 2025 assembly elections, Nitin Nabin further strengthened this stronghold by securing 98,299 votes (63.25%).
Will the vote bank increase if Prashant Kishor contests the elections?
At the same time, RJD’s Rekha Kumari had got 46,363 votes and Jan Suraj’s candidate Vandana Kumari had got only 7,717 votes, that is, Nitin Nabeen had defeated Grand Alliance candidate Rekha Gupta of RJD by 51,936 votes in the last assembly elections. Although the vote bank will definitely increase if Prashant Kishor himself contests the elections from here, it would be a miracle to take the 5% vote share to the winning mark of 45% or 50% overnight.
Whatever claims Prashant Kishor may make now, the ground reality, mood of the people and old statistics are making BJP stand apart from others. In such a situation, only a miracle will be able to fulfill the dreams of Prashant Kishore.
