
TMC faction led by Mamata Banerjee took major action against rebel leaders on Tuesday. Mamata-led TMC expelled former Kolkata Mayor and former minister Firhad Hakim and eight other rebel leaders from the party. The decision was taken a day after the former West Bengal Chief Minister was “removed” from the post of party chairperson. Apart from Firhad Hakim, the expelled leaders include Javed Ahmed Khan, Arup Roy, Rathin Ghosh, Biplab Mitra, Sabina Yasmin, Arup Biswas and Snehasish Chakraborty.
this step love of a mother The raise came hours after the K-led faction issued a show cause notice to the rebels, accusing them of “deliberately indulging in anti-party activities”.
Mamta’s action after Ritabrata’s announcement
On Monday, the rebel camp led by opposition leader Ritabrata Banerjee announced a new leadership structure for the TMC, with veteran MLA Arup Roy replacing Mamata Banerjee as the chairperson. Mamata Banerjee started Trinamool after leaving Congress in 1998 and was its leader since then.
The rebels also launched a 30-member National Working Committee (NWC), and said they wanted the former West Bengal chief minister to become their “mentor”.
Ritabrata Banerjee later said that Arup Roy has been elected as the new chairman of Trinamool “with everyone’s consent”. Former minister Arup Biswas and MLA Firhad Hakim have been made vice-chairpersons. Today a special session of All India Trinamool Congress was held here.
Mamata Banerjee’s counterattack
During this session, the All India Trinamool Congress Committee and the National Working Committee were formed through unanimous election of delegates. Arup Roy was made the President of All India Trinamool Congress.
The 30-member committee includes Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Rathin Ghosh, Sabina Yasmin, Javed Khan, Sandipan Saha and others.
Ritabrata Banerjee further said that district presidents and district committees will also be formed in the coming days. Rebel leaders claim that at least 60 out of 80 TMC MLAs have their support. Of the party’s 28 Lok Sabha MPs, 20 have already defected and merged with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, which had contested the 2023 elections in neighboring Tripura but could not even open its account.
