Prabhas Bahubali Film Opening Day Box Office: It is said that any film can be successful only if it has a great opening. But these box office myths are now slowly being broken. Now, despite earning less in the beginning, films are showing higher earnings in the future. You will be surprised to know that when the film Bahubali The Beginning, which changed the face of the South Film Industry, was released 11 years ago, it was a flop on the opening day. Meaning, the film was earning money but as per the budget, its collection was very light. Everyone was tensed about this because the film was made for Rs 150-200 crores, which was considered even more at that time. In such a situation, director SS Rajamouli found a way and history was made.
The directors and producers of the film told – “There was no fixed budget of the film. We had to think about how the next day’s shooting would be done. We were busy raising money for the next day’s shoot. After a few days, the cost of making the film for one day had reached Rs 25 lakh. Our 4-day long film sequence was made in as much time as it was, a small budget film was ready at that time. We were busy in every action shooting schedule. Were spending Rs 1 crore.
Prabhas-Rajamouli were broken
There was tension regarding the film but something else was going on in SS Rajamouli’s mind. When the film seemed to be struggling to raise its huge budget, Rajamouli immediately understood that the status of this film was very big and the work of this film could not be done only from the South. Then an attempt was made to bring the film in multiple languages. Its effect was also visible.
Rajamouli said- The day the first part of Baahubali was released, the film was incurring a loss of Rs 70 crore. Considering how much we recovered and how much we spent, our film was running at a loss of Rs 70 crore. Most of the film’s earnings were expected to come from Andhra Pradesh only, but that did not happen. On the contrary, trolls started on social media regarding the scenes of the film. Prabhas was also emotional about this matter. There was an atmosphere of panic among the producers regarding the film.
Rajamouli’s one trick changed everything
“People started trolling and all kinds of things started happening on social media regarding the film. It seemed like there was a war going on. I don’t know how the producers would have survived that day. We all were about to break down. My father was walking. I went to him and started crying while holding him.” But when the film came in other languages and went to foreign countries, its fortunes brightened. While on one hand its first part collected around Rs 650 crores, on the other hand its second part broke all the box office records after just 2 years and proved to be an all-time blockbuster by earning Rs 1750 crores.
