The accident happened due to technical fault
Earlier during a press briefing on Monday, Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad bin Sreeda Al-Kaabi said that 13 people of Indian and Pakistani origin had died in this accident. According to officials, apart from Qatar, the injured in the accident also include Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Kenyan, Ghanaian, Tanzanian, Nigerian and Nepali citizens.

We wish the speedy recovery of the injured and hope and pray for the safety of the missing,” the embassy said.
In a separate statement, Qatar’s Interior Ministry said the incident was caused by a “technical fault” during the operation, which left 13 people from different countries dead and 66 others injured. Security officials, together with emergency response teams at Ras Laffan, responded immediately and implemented approved emergency procedures at the scene. The injured in the accident were immediately sent to medical centers for better treatment.
Production started only 2 days ago
The ministry says that officials are investigating to find out the exact technical causes of the accident and all the circumstances related to the accident. At present, there is no leakage due to the accident and there is no threat to the safety of people or the surrounding environment.
Earlier, Qatar Energy said that the incident occurred on Sunday evening during the start of operations at the Barzan Local Gas Supply Facility, due to which there was a massive explosion and fire. The emergency response team and Qatar Civil Defense quickly and completely extinguished the fire at the scene.
