
Due to fear of terrorist threat, intelligence agencies have issued a security alert for Delhi and Uttarakhand. Under this, the security of major religious places, government establishments and police bases has been increased and strict monitoring is being maintained. According to intelligence department sources, this alert was issued after an email surfaced warning of possible attacks in the coming days.
This threat comes amid the ongoing standoff between a group of Nihangs and the authorities at Nagarasu Gurudwara in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The Nihangs were demanding the release of four of their members arrested in connection with the clash with local people in Karnaprayag market on June 16.
The deadlock that lasted for three days ends
The three-day standoff was ended on June 23, following the intervention of a Sikh delegation in the matter. Later, on the night of June 25, a group of Nihang Sikhs forcibly entered Uttarakhand from Kulhal border in Dehradun district, which is adjacent to Himachal Pradesh, demanding the release of the arrested people. The officials convinced him to return to Paonta Sahib.
Four Nihang Sikhs got bail
However, the four arrested Nihang Sikhs were granted bail by the District and Sessions Court of Uttarakhand on Saturday. The email reportedly mentioned several temples in Delhi and Uttarakhand as well as government offices, railway stations and police bases as possible targets.

Following the alert, Delhi Police, Uttarakhand Police and central intelligence agencies have increased surveillance at sensitive and crowded places as a precaution and have started reviewing security arrangements.
Officials said deployment of security personnel has been increased at major religious places, transport hubs and government buildings, and local police units have been instructed to remain alert and intensify patrolling.

According to sources, Delhi Police has started investigation to find out the authenticity of the email and its source. Cyber experts are examining the digital trail of the message to find out whether the threat is real or just a rumour.
Officials said that no specific information has been received yet about the time or exact location of the possible attack, but considering the seriousness of the alert, precautionary measures are being taken. He said that security agencies have not ruled out any possibility and are keeping a close watch on suspicious activities.
