A UN maritime agency has halted the evacuation of ships from the Strait of Hormuz after receiving information that a ship was targeted near the coast of Oman. The British Army had issued a statement giving information about the ship being targeted. The head of the International Maritime Organization said that the work of evacuating the ships stuck in the Strait of Hormuz will be halted until the agency can ensure the safety of the ships included in the evacuation list and present in that area.
At present it is not clear who carried out the attack and which ship was targeted. Earlier, Iran had warned ships not to use the UN-recognized route through the Strait of Hormuz without Tehran’s approval.
Stopped evacuation of ships through Hormuz Strait
In fact, the United Nations Maritime Agency has stopped the plan to evacuate ships through the Strait of Hormuz. This step has been taken after the British Army informed that a ship has been attacked with a projectile near the coast of Oman on Thursday. The head of the International Maritime Organization said that this plan will be postponed until the agency confirms the security guarantees for the ships included in the evacuation list and for the entire region.
Iran threatened
It is not clear who fired this missile and what type of ship was targeted. The attack occurred hours after the news that Iran had threatened to stop ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz without permission.
Three people died in Israeli attack
Three people have been killed in an Israeli attack on the outskirts of Nabatiyeh area in southern Lebanon. This attack has happened at a time when talks are going on in Washington. The Israeli army is continuously targeting people traveling in the areas of southern Lebanon which are occupied by it. According to Lebanese health officials, more than 4,000 people have died since the war began in March.
