After staging a sit-in outside the PM’s residence on Tuesday, he reached Parliament on Wednesday wearing black clothes and raised slogans against the government. Meanwhile, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav got angry at not getting a chance to speak in Parliament. Addressing the chair during the proceedings of the House, he asked why we are not being allowed to speak. Akhilesh’s full statement…
Akhilesh said that the issue of paper leak is not of Congress or SP. It is of youth and students. While addressing the speaker, Akhilesh said that you made BJP speak, you made Congress speak. Have you compromised? Why didn’t you let us speak? This is not right. If students are not listened to, they will come to the streets. The hands of the students were broken. Will you tear your daughters’ clothes? We were forced to go to the PM’s residence. If you had listened to us, we would not have gone.
What happened?
There was an uproar when the Lok Sabha proceedings started at 12 noon today. SP MPs including Akhilesh Yadav were also raising their voice and wanted to express their views. Akhilesh Yadav wanted to express his views but the Speaker asked KC Venugopal of Congress to speak.
After him, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju started speaking. On this, Akhilesh Yadav got angry after taking off his headphones and started turning to go back with his MPs. Seeing this, the speaker interrupted and said that Akhilesh ji, you had also asked me to speak. You also speak. On this, Akhilesh Yadav taunted and asked what to say. You gave both (government and Congress) a chance to speak. What agreement has been reached?
According to sources, even after the House proceedings were adjourned, talks continued between Venugopal and Akhilesh Yadav. Venugopal asked Akhilesh why he did not insist on the demand for resignation? He further said that this is the demand of the students which we are raising here.
Akhilesh also complained that why did the top Congress leaders go on strike outside the PM residence yesterday without informing other opposition parties and without taking them into confidence? Whereas he had reached there with a crowd outside the PM’s residence. Samajwadi Party is continuously supporting CJP’s protest at Jantar Mantar, while Congress has kept distance from Jantar Mantar.
